The Final core syllabus for NEET MBBS exam has already been released by the Medical Council of India.

It is expected that about 10 – 15 lakhs MBBS aspirants would appear the First All India Level Entrance to be conducted on 2nd or 3rd Sunday of May 2012.

Remember now there is only a single qualifying exam for students willing to pursue a career in Medicine.

Total no. of seats across country for MBBS: 40,000
 
Eligibility Criteria:  Passed 12th class examination, minimum of 50% (General category) and 40% (Reserved category) in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized board before admission
 
Language of Examination: English and Local Language (Tamilnadu, UP, MP)
 
Type of Exam: Paper Based (for 2012)
 
Exam Pattern: single response type MCQs
 
Total Questions: 180
 
Subject wise allocation of marks: 45 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) each from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology
 
Test Duration: 3 hrs
 
Date of Notification: last week of November 2011
 
Mode of apply: both online and offline
 
Application Fees: Rs. 1000 (Unreserved category) and Rs 800 (Reserved category)
 
Last Date of application: January 15th 2012 12.00 Noon
 
Issue of Admit Cards: by April 15th 2012
 
Exam Date: 2nd Sunday of May 2012
 
Paper Evaluation:
1. Marks in Biology section of paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank)
2. Marks in Chemistry section of paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank)
3. Marks in Physics section of paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank)
4. Total number of negative responses (Fewer negative responses will be placed higher in the rank)
5. Date of birth (older person will be placed higher in the rank).
You are requested to refer MCI’s official websites for latest updates. There has been no declaration of the exam dates so far in MCI’s website. However most of the leading news papers have published that it has been tentatively scheduled for May 13 2012.
